LASCO Affiliated Companies (formerly popularly referred to as LASCO Group of Companies) consist of LASCO Distributors Limited, LASCO Manufacturing Limited and LASCO Financial Services Ltd. The oldest member of the LASCO family, LASCO Distributors Limited was founded by Hon. Lascelles Chin in September 1988, while LASCO Manufacturing and LASCO Financial Services were founded in 1994 and 2004 respectively. The company is known for its quality and affordable food and beverage, personal care, pharmaceutical, household and laundry brands for local and international companies, as well as its own private brands. Though the company is well known for its owned brands such as LASCO Food Drink, iCool, Curves, it has forged distribution partnerships with local and international companies. Some of these are include companies and brands such as AstraZeneca, Bayer Healthcare, PharmaScience, Cipla, Salada Foods (known for its quality Jamaica Mountain Peak Coffee and teas), Unilever (Dove, Ben and Jerry's Ice-Cream,Axe, Breeze, Lipton, Suave), FunC drink for children. LASCO Manufacturing Limited: In August 2010, the company changed its name from LASCO Foods (Successors) Limited to LASCO Manufacturing Limited. The company has pioneered a wide range of products, including its popular powdered beverages such as LASCO Food Drink and LASCO LaSoy lactose-free . These drinks deliver to the consumer highly nutritious product at a reasonable price. The company currently operates two divisions, manufacturing and export and has developed a close partnership with LASCO Distributors Limited, an affiliated LASCO company in Jamaica, as well as with selected distributors in the Caribbean, Central and South America, Canada, the USA, the UK and the Middle East. LASCO Financial Services: LASCO Financial Services Limited started operations in 2004 as a Licensed Cambio Service Provider and Remittance Service Provider. The company moved to diversify the portfolio of the then LASCO Group of Companies to include Financial Services, with particular focus on foreign currency generation. The environment for foreign currency trades at that time was unstable with high fluctuation in availability and consistency. In March 2004, LASCO Financial Services Limited (LASCO Cambio) began trading and in October of the same year LASCO Remittance Services began paying to MoneyGram customers. The company further diversified its offerings to include loans, bill payments & courier services. In 2014, the company partnered with MailPak Services Limited, to package and sell 'shopper' loans initially. Playing a part in environmental awareness LASCO has also demonstrated its effort to play a part in increasing environmental awareness and protection by providing support to the LASCO REAP (Releaf Environmental Awareness Protection), an environmental sensitivity programme in schools. In 2004, the company established a factory in Plymouth, England to manufacture products for the West Indian community in the United Kingdom, but less than two years later withdrew from manufacturing in the United Kingdom.〔 〕 After lengthy litigation, Chin's ex-wife Audrey, a chartered accountant, was awarded half the shares in the company. The marriage ended in 1994, but the ruling by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council was not issued until October 2007.
